Is my consult covered by Medicare?Yes, if you have a Medicare Card, you will receive a Medicare rebate for services at Skin Wise Healthcare. We use the Tyro Payments system which allows us to instantaneously refund your rebate onto your Savings or Cheque card when you pay your account in full, meaning you don't have to wait to get your rebate back. Alternatively, Medicare can deposit the rebate into your designated bank account within 48 hours.

How much does a consult cost? The cost of a consult depends on the type of service that you require and all out-of-pocket costs are quoted up-front where possible. Please note that full payment is required on the day. Biopsies and Cryotherapy are bulk-billed for all patients. A cancellation fee may apply if appointments are not cancelled with adequate notice.
-
What happens during my consult?Your Skin Wise Healthcare doctor will complete a thorough head to toe check of your skin for all types of skin cancer (usually involving undressing to your underwear). Your doctor will look at your body using a dermatoscope. This will include your face, chest, arms, back, and legs, your scalp, between your toes, and the soles of your feet. We are also very happy to focus on individual lesions of concern if this is your preference. After the examination, your doctor will discuss any concerns and treatment options available if needed. Biopsies and Cryotherapy are usually performed on the day of your consult. Any lesions needing to be excised will be booked for a future date, except for country patients. We do ask that our patients wear minimal to no make-up if possible. To avoid having to book another appointment for your finger and toenails to be checked, please remove any nail polish prior to the appointment or wear clear nail polish if possible.
